I guess it is easier to line up our theology with a past event, and make whatever kind of guesses as to a future event (that we aren't really accountable for) than to actually be involved in the present--and yet Jesus' teaching and action was so anchored in the present.

Thanks for that!Alhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/07453255551532736555noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8211328034704476406.post-16159429430206400152010-01-20T17:56:44.880-08:002010-01-20T17:56:44.880-08:00Welcome Jonathan!

It's different things that bring us to that place, but the response is similar--we start looking to see if anybody else is feeling what we are beginning to feel. That's where technology steps in to lend a hand...

I like what you say in your profile: "I just seek to clarify what the main gospel message is." I'll bet we are on a similar page.

Looking forward to getting to know you.Alhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/07453255551532736555noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8211328034704476406.post-18502958033681179732010-01-20T17:00:30.420-08:002010-01-20T17:00:30.420-08:00Al,

I'm blessed every time I read yours, and am refreshed by this post! Keep up the great work!Peterhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/08898344279654975005noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8211328034704476406.post-69323769836894072212010-01-20T14:55:51.390-08:002010-01-20T14:55:51.390-08:00Hi, I just found your blog from your comment over ...Hi, I just found your blog from your comment over at losing my religion. You said you came in late on this conversation... we'll from the looks of your blog I think I joined in even later. Anyways, looks like you've got some good stuff here, another blog to read.

It just clicked with me yesterday a difference between the gospel of the kingdom and the gospel I've heard most frequently preached.

The usual gospel message emphasizes Jesus in the past who paid for our sin so we can be with Jesus in the future. The gospel of the kingdom focuses on how we relate to Jesus now and how He wants to work in and through us now.

God bless!Jonathanhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/01266729238990589293noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8211328034704476406.post-80176456643304532892010-01-20T12:57:57.023-08:002010-01-20T12:57:57.023-08:00Thanks for 'kin-dom', Luke.

Family is certainly a big one.

I think the more we can see the united-ness (even in diversity, or especially in diversity), the more we act kindly towards each other.

but it ain't always easy!!Alhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/07453255551532736555noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8211328034704476406.post-12656827919281362462010-01-19T11:17:49.380-08:002010-01-19T11:17:49.380-08:00Al,

In worship class, my instructor was all about inclusive language and updating the ol' ways of speaking into modern terms. she used the "kin-dom" of God. i really like that model as I don't really view God as king. sure God is sovereign, but a "king unlike any other" doesn't really fit the definition. too much free will involved ;-)Lukehttps://www.blogger.com/profile/03734930079710820207noreply@blogger.com
