Blessed are the pure in heart for they will see God.
Blessed are the genuine, blameless, sincere, untarnished, undefiled, unmixed, transparent in understanding, will, character, thoughts and passions, for they will perceive, know and experience God.
Looking for and expecting to see good character in people will enable you to see those God-like, positive qualities within them. You will see what you look for.
C.S. Lewis in 'The problem of pain' (quoted by Brian McLaren in 'The secret message of Jesus') says: “It is safe to tell the pure in heart that they shall see God, for only the pure in heart want to.”

Al-you nailed it with the see what you look for observation!
I'm reminded of the parable of the sheep and the goats.Sometimes, unexpectedly in random acts, of hospitality, compassion, grace and mercy...God appears before our eyes. We can say all the right things and say we know God, but have never seen him through the clutter of mere belief. One needs to get outside our heads, into the midst of life...and life faithfully. I think then, there is more of a chance to see God. Someone once said, " If you can't see God in a stranger, you won't see God anywhere."
Thanks, guys.
I want to use this idea for inspiration some Friday night as we head out with CARTS. I think most of us have the right heart, but the challenge to look for God is people will be good for all of us.
